VA Dependent Parent Program
A VA compensation add-on that provides additional monthly disability compensation to veterans who financially support a parent -- separate from adding a spouse or children to a VA award.
Eligibility: the veteran must have a 30%+ disability rating, and the parent must be financially dependent on the veteran with limited income.
The parent's income determines the additional payment amount -- lower parent income yields a higher benefit. Both parents can be added if both meet the dependency and income criteria.
→ File VA Form 21-509 (Statement of Dependency of Parent) to add a dependent parent.
