VA Caregiver Support Program
VA programs providing financial stipends, health insurance, respite care, mental health services, and other support to family caregivers of eligible veterans with serious service-related injuries or illnesses.
PCAFC (Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers): for veterans with a serious injury incurred in the line of duty on or after May 7, 1975. Provides a monthly stipend, health insurance, and respite care.
PGCSS (Program of General Caregiver Support Services): available to caregivers of veterans of all eras; provides coaching, peer support, and referrals -- but no stipend.
The MISSION Act (2018) extended PCAFC to pre-9/11 veterans in a phased rollout.
